As noted on the Brooks + Scarpa website this home seamlessly blends with the hillside merging the natural and the artificial in the most intriguing of ways. Luis Vasquez is the project’s engineer and he worked his magic with the architects to create a property that has won the AIA Los Angeles NextLA Award as well as the honor of being exhibited at the National Building Museum’s “Liquid Stone Exhibit” in Washington D.C.

The interior of the home boasts features such as custom cabinets and pinewood flooring. In addition to the kitchen this 130 square-foot home includes a bathroom a living room and a loft (not included in the square footage). Side note: the walls of the home feature painted hardboard and the ceiling is crafted from maple plywood.

The innovative structure basically consists of three distinctively separate sections which combine seamlessly with one another. A carport that doubles up as an external patio area is the first to greet you with a large glass enclosure that is right next to it providing for a relaxing lounge area. The glass box has been designed to provide unobstructed views of the flowing river as you also enjoy a 360 degree view of the world outside.
