Harvard Police Department's officers, dispatchers and support staff work hard each day to make the Town of Harvard, Massachusetts, a safe and enjoyable place to live, work and play. Please take some time to learn about each officer, dispatcher, and support staff member on our Department by reading the short biographies below. Edward D. Denmark, Chief of Police

Chief Denmark began his career in 1990 with the Ayer Police Department. While in Ayer he held the ranks of patrol officer, sergeant, and in 1997 was promoted to lieutenant. From 2001 to 2003 he served as Chief of Police in the town of Sterling, MA. Chief Denmark has received specialized training in community policing, DARE, crisis negotiation, SWAT Tactics, hostage rescue, internal affairs, firearms instruction, and various managerial and administrative areas. He currently holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Legal Studies from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Fitchburg State College. edenmark@harvard.ma.us

Sergeant John Coates, Supervisor

Before coming to Harvard, he served in the U.S. Army as a Military Police Officer in the States and in Korea. John started his career in Harvard in 1988, and was promoted to Sergeant in 1995. jcoates@harvard.ma.us

Jack Izzo, Investigative Services

Before coming to Harvard in 1991, Officer Izzo worked for the Town of Whitman, Massachusetts where he was an Auxiliary/Special Police Officer for seven years rising to the rank of Sergeant. jizzo@harvard.ma.us

Scott Hughes, Officer & Fingerprints

Officer Hughes began his career in Oakham, Massachusetts working as a part-time officer and going to college. Scott came to Harvard in 1994. shughes@harvard.ma.us

Greg Newman, Officer, Firearms Instructor/Armorer

A lifelong resident of Harvard, Officer Newman began his career in Law Enforcement in 1986 working as a reserve officer in Harvard, and in 1996 he became a full-time police officer. Greg also served in the U.S. Army as an Engineer with tours of duty in Vietnam & Germany. gnewman@harvard.ma.us

William J. Castro, Officer, Prosecutor, Bike Patrol & EMT

Officer Castro has been in Law Enforcement over 23 years. wcastro@harvard.ma.us

Kimberly A. Murphy, Officer

Officer Murphy came to Harvard with over 5 years experience and comes from a family with a long line of police officers. Officer Murphy earned her Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Curry College and her Master's Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Western New England College. Officer Murphy is a certified RAD (Rape Aggression Defense) instructor and has been assigned as Harvard's School Resource Officer. kmurphy@harvard.ma.us

James Babu, Officer

Officer Babu was a Police Officer for Massasoit Police Department for four years prior to coming to Harvard. He also worked for Babson College Police and Department of Mental Health Police. Office Babu is a graduate of Curry College where he earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Criminal Justice. jbabu@harvard.ma.us

Daniele M. Paganelli, Officer

Officer Paganelli came to Harvard in 2003. Officer Paganelli is a Certified RAD (Rape Aggression Defense) instructor. dpaganelli@harvard.ma.us

Sue Podzycki, Dispatcher

A lifelong resident of Harvard, she began her career in Dispatching for the Town in 1978. As a Dispatcher for the Town of Harvard she has been certified as a Public Safety Dispatcher, in 911, in the Criminal Justice Information System, as a First Responder and in CPR. spodzycki@harvard.ma.us

Patricia Chadwell Natoli, Dispatcher

Dispatcher Natoli started her career in Harvard in 1985, with several years of dispatching in other towns in the area. In addition to being a dispatcher for the Town of Harvard, she also has been certified as a Public Safety Dispatcher, in 911, in the Criminal Justice Information System, as a First Responder, and in CPR. pnatoli@harvard.ma.us

Patricia (Trish) Rouvel, Dispatcher

A resident of Harvard, she started her career in dispatching in 1998 working as a spare dispatcher. Trish moved to a full-time position in 1999 and also became certified as a Public Safety Dispatcher, in 911, in the Criminal Justice Information System, as a First Responder and in CPR. trouvel@harvard.ma.us

Andrew Perry, Dispatcher

Another lifelong resident of Harvard. He is also a Firefighter and an EMT in Harvard. aperry@harvard.ma.us

Susan Naylor, Administrative Assistant

Susan started her career in Harvard working in the school system in 1998. She worked as a part-time clerk in the police department in 1999, and in 2000 she became Chief Chase's administrative assistant. snaylor@harvard.ma.us
